Supporting New Comers with Dignity

We know what it means to start over because we’ve lived it.

After spending 19 years in a refugee camp, our founder arrived in Vancouver with resilience, hope, and the belief that everyone deserves a clean, safe, and welcoming place to call home. That experience gave birth to The Fresh Start, a community-driven program designed to help fellow newcomers, immigrants, and refugees navigate the early days of their new lives in Canada.

Why The Fresh Start?

Starting life in a new country is more than a physical move, it’s an emotional, financial, and cultural journey. Many newcomers faces:

• Difficulty finding work opportunities

• Language barriers.

• A lack of local support networks.

• Financial pressure to provide for their families quicklyEmotional stress from past trauma and future uncertainty.

• Canadian work experience.

The Fresh Start was created to bridge those gaps, offering meaningful work, mentorship, and community connection, all through the lens of dignity and empowerment.

What the Program Offers

1. Employment Opportunities with Ecozi
We offer flexible part-time and full-time cleaning jobs to newcomers, with fair pay, respectful working conditions, and full training, no prior experience needed. It’s a first step toward financial independence and self-confidence in a new home.

2. Mentorship & Peer Connection
Participants are matched with others who have gone through similar journeys. We foster a workplace where people not only earn, but feel seen, supported, and included.

4. Community Integration
We partner with local organizations to help newcomers access services necessary to start a normal life in Vancouver

Who It's For

The Fresh Start is open to:

• Refugee claimants/protected persons or newcomers with permanent or temporary residency

• New immigrants seeking their first Canadian work experience

• Individuals with limited English or prior work history
